Historical Society for a one of a kind Halloween Experience

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 28TH 7:00 PM

Rich Correll, who owns the largest collection of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horror
film memorabilia in the world, has built an exhibit called “Icons of Darkness” in Hollywood at the Montalban Theatre. On October 28th Rich will be giving us a personal virtual tour of his massive one-of-kind collection. This promises to be one of the best Halloween experiences we’ve ever done.”

Ticket to the Virtual Zoom event is $15.00 and is a fundraiser for the WSHPHS. Paypal link is below and you will receive your special ticketed link on the day of the event.

RICH CORRELL
Director, actor, and producer Rich Correll began his career in Hollywood at the young age of eight. After co-starring in “Leave It To Beaver” as a kid, Rich went on to direct and produce some of the most well-known sitcoms in American TV history, including “Happy Days,” “Laverne and Shirley,” “Full House,” “Family Matters,” “Married With Children,” “That’s So Raven,” “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” and “Hannah Montana” among others. In 2018, Rich celebrated a directing milestone with the completion of his 700th TV episode.

May 22nd, 12-3pm. Daniel Orlandi is an American costume designer whose work can be seen in a wide variety of films such as: Saving Mr. Banks, The Blind Side, Trumbo, Cinderella Man, Angels and Demons, The Davinci Code, The Normal Heart, Down with Love, etc. He has been nominated for several costume awards including a BAFTA, an Emmy, and a Costume Designers Guild Award for Excellence in a Period Film.

Sunday July 31st, 1-5pm. Please join us at the historical Gilmore Adobe on Sunday, July 31st, from 1:00 to 5:00 for our Annual Meeting and barbecue. The Gilmore Adobe was built in 1852 and is located in that mysterious space at The Grove hidden behind tall walls, beautiful gardens, and colorful peacocks. Wedged between Maggiano’s, the former home of Wood Ranch, and Umami Burger the Gilmore Adobe is beautifully preserved and is one of the oldest homes in Los Angeles. It has served the Gilmore family since Arthur Gilmore purchased the house and surrounding 256 acres in 1880. Guests will have full access to the charming museums and on the grounds of the adobe. We will have a guest speaker and food and wine will be served.

This is also where you can pay by credit card, cash, or check for admittance to the tour. This location also has a plant sale, food and refreshments, and a silent auction.

On the grounds of one of the best houses in Windsor Square
501 S. Plymouth Blvd, SW corner of 5th and Plymouth.

Not only is the O’Melveny House a beautiful historic Craftsman-style home it is also the cover photo of our website and was moved in pieces from its original location at Wilshire Boulevard and New Hampshire Avenue. It is now the home of our hosts, Executive Committee member, Brian Curran and his husband, Kevin MacLellan.

Guest speaker author Rosemary Lord

Rosemary is an actress and the author of the popular books Hollywood: Then And Now, Los Angeles: Then And Now, and Los Angeles. Rosemary will be speaking to us on the history of the Women’s Club Of Hollywood of which she is the newly elected President.

For new members, the Historical Society holds its Annual Meeting every year to give out our Landmark Awards and install our new Executive Committee for the next year. We also install our new class of Trustees and Advisors.

355 S. Windsor Boulevard is ground zero once again for All Good Gardens, Great and Small, a tour of five private gardens. This year’s garden tour features five delicious gardens of varying sizes, three in Windsor Square, one in Fremont Place and one just outside Hancock Park on Fuller Avenue. The one on Fuller Ave. is a charming garden attached to a lovely home designed by the one and only Paul Williams.

At 355 S.Windsor Boulevard there is also a lovely garden and at this location our reception committee will greet you. This is where guests and docents will receive their wristbands and programs with the addresses on the tour. Walk-ins can pay by credit card, cash, or check for admittance to the tour as well as membership to the Historical Society. This location also has refreshments, a Prosecco happy hour and a silent auction.

Members $55.
Non-Members $75.
